2008 Poets International Poetry Readings
Editor’s Choice Poets

Poets International’s Silver Jubilee Year Celebration was launched with
Lighting a lamp by Chief Guest, an eminent poet from Noida, Mrs. Mamta Agarwal and a Ghazal, written by poet Mohammed Fakhruddin, was rendered melodiously as invocation song by Chiranjeevi Balakrishna, to the delight of the gathering, at Kannada Bhavan, at Bangalore, on 1st June 2008.

Mr. Prakash F. Madhwani welcomed the invitees on behalf of “Poets International” and gave a brief account of the magazine which has been catering to the needs of poets all along during the last 25 years. Speaking about ‘Poets International’, Mr. Prakash Madhwani remarked “most of the friends sitting here will agree that we are friends today because of poetry, but, more importantly because we have been brought together by Poets International Editor Dr. Mohammed Fakhruddin”. He said that   “2008 Poets International Poetry Readings by Editor’s Choice Poets” was a part of Poets International’s Silver Jubilee Year Celebration

Introducing the Author-poets to the audience Dr. Mohammed Fakhruddin said Poets International encourages all those who aspire to become poets. These two poets have been added in its studies series and place them before the world readership.

Chief Guest Mrs. Mamta Agarwal, who delivered her presidential address after releasing both the books “ROSES WITH LOVE” By K.S. Somashekar Raju & “GOLDEN DEW” By Padma K. Bhaskaran, appreciated and congratulated both the authors for bringing their talent to limelight by writing soul stirring poetry. She also observed that both the authors Mrs. Padma Bhaskaran and Mr. Somashekar Raju were super-sensitive by nature while portraying their thoughts on various themes.

Mrs. Mamta Agarwal who hails from Noida, did her post-graduation in English literature, is an eminent poet and a member of Delhi Poets Club. Her poems have been widely published including in ‘Poets International’. She participated in Poets International’s “12th India Poetry Festivals 2007” held at Bangalore in December 2007 and was recognized as an eminent poet.

     While handing over the session “2008 Poets International Poetry Readings By Editor’s Choice Poets” to the editor of “Poets International” international monthly journal of short verse, Mr. Prakash F. Madhwani said that most of the Bangalore city poets have been groomed by Dr. Mohammed Fakhruddin in his poetry workshops and as a result all of them write meaningful poetry in various structural forms.

     Dr. Mohammed Fakhruddin, who conducted the poetry readings session gave tips of the art of writing poetry, explaining in detail various intricacies involved in writing good poetry.

     Poets who read out their individual poems were  Mr. Bulusu Lakshman (USA) Mr. Praksh F. Madhwani, Mr. A.L.Shama Rao, Dr. Nayeem Ulla Khan Dr. S. L. Peeran, Mr. Somashekar Raju, Mr. Virendra Gupta (Mumbai), Mr. Dakshina Moorthi,, Ambika Ananth, Mamta Agarwal (Noida), Anita Belagodu, Meena R. Shankar, Padma Bhaskaran, Nuggehalli Pankaja, Vasuda Murthy, Heera Nawaz, Rajmani Kumar, and Vidhya Bhopi.

     All the participanting poets impressed the audience with their creative skill and poetic expressions covering all aspects of life in different shades and colour.

     In spite of heavy rains on that evening, the poets and poetry lovers made their presence felt and proved that poetry is an exclusive art which mesmerizes one and all.

     Mr. Prakash F. Madhwani who compered the programme skillfully filled with wit and humour proposed the vote of thanks to all those responsible in making the poetry event a grand success.
