The Sonnets of
MOHAMMED FAKHRUDDIN
148
Most lucky to be in the New Year,
Resolve not to allow mistakes repeat;
Remembrance of thought of foregone year,
False hope derailed my life, thorns pricked my feet.
There are live signs between earth and the skies,
Days, nights, clouds, sun, moon, stars -- each has a norm;
Mountains, rivers, oceans, lakes, land and seas,
Each assigned with a duty to perform.
Days, years, centuries pass by likewise,
Human beings born and die endlessly,
Never-ending cycle, no compromise,
The cosmos made to stay eternally.
Man, high or low, born to die anytime,
Think of now and live, all are slave of time!
